Unsurpassed in Stiffness, Strength and Elongation-at-Break Properties: The New TEREZ GT 3 Product Line for Metal Replacement
At the K 2013 Exhibition in Düsseldorf, the Ter Plastics Polymer Group is introducing the
new product series TEREZ GT3 for the first time, which was developed especially for
the highest metal replacement requirements in the automotive industry, mechanical
engineering, and sanitary installations.
The TEREZ GT3 line complements high glass fiber reinforced PA 6 und PA 66 types and
is based on a PA6T/6I/66 with partially aromatic parts. Because of the potential glass fiber
content of up to 60%, very high stiffness and strength are achieved that keep their
outstanding level of strength even after absorbing humidity. Dimensional stability also is
increased compared to conventional polyamides.
Mold wear can be reduced significantly by using the new material, compared to zinc or
aluminum die casting, so that the service life of the mold optimally improves by a factor of
5.
The TEREZ GT3 line offers all of these advantages without sacrificing typical polyamide
properties, such as good processability, surface quality, and chemical resistance.
Compared to other products of this composition, the variation with 50% glass fiber
reinforcement in particular exhibits a clearly improved elongation at break and toughness
(see graphic). With conventional PA 6 and PA 66 solutions, a clear increase in the
elongation at break only occurs with humidity absorption. TEREZ GT3 exhibits an
increased level of elongation at break – even without conditioning – excelling in all
relevant parameters.
